My band was privileged to play at a Decimate pre-festival event and it was a fantastic experience. So much talent in one room. More importantly, I haven't felt that kind of togetherness and support at a local event in quite some time. Definitely felt like we made some new friends. Hope to get to play with this organization again.

This was an absolutely amazing festival. Right from the moment I arrived there I was greeted by friendly staff who directed me where to go and were more than happy to answer my questions.

The bands were all amazing, there were some fantastic vendors and the sound was top notch. I definitely plan on going back back next year.

This was such an incredible, inclusive, family friendly metal festival! My wife and I went with our two children and had an absolute blast there. So many great bands, fun activities and games, and everyone was kind, welcoming and respectful. I would highly recommend this festival to anyone who has even a bit of interest in heavy music...you'll have a great time and make some new friends.

This festival was an absolute blast!

Sloan has gone above and beyond to bring such an amazing group of musicians and performers together.

Not only did Sloan put an amazing bill of bands and performers together she also poured her heart and soul in creating a family environment so that kids can totally enjoy. And they absolutely did. Nothing but smiles all around.

Amazing vendors! Amazing food! Amazing stage! Definitely will be back again and again each year.

This was an amazing event to attend. From the pristine campground to the excellent sound and lighting quality of the performances, it was a blast!

To the haters bashing this festival from the confines of their homes... There was absolutely no adult or mature content presented. Birthday Girl was very respectful and constantly praised how inclusive the metal community is. Not to mention...She was friggen hilarious.

How about doing a little research before making yourself look stupid online. Get real, and go outside once in awhile. You may learn something.

Being there for the entire weekend, we witnessed firsthand how the festival's promise of creating a safe and inclusive space was truly delivered! Considering how greatly aligned Decimate Metalfest's values are with ours, partnering with them to help promote this aspect was a no-brainer. Creating a safe space for all attendees, especially for our marginalized communities within the LGBTQ+ community, is a crucial aspect of running any kind of event, and they absolutely nailed it!

On top of that, what really stood out to our organization was the inclusion of drag performers on the roster alongside the bands, DJs, and solo artists. Each drag act did an incredible job, with a special shout-out to Red Silence for raising a hand-painted sign during her act that said, "ART NOT WAR"! This simple yet impactful message perfectly encapsulates the essence of our promotional efforts.

Needless to say, everyone had a fantastic time, and we couldn't be more proud to see the diverse array of adults and kids who came together in UNITY for such an epic weekend! THANK YOU, Decimate Metalfest!!! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🤘

This was our very first time performing at Decimate Metalfest and seeing it all in action, and we were absolutely blown away! The Millet arena made a super cool music venue and we loved the variety of acts and activities, including the youth and adult air guitar contests! As a band that brings diversity and advocates for oneness, we couldn't be more proud to have been part of such a fun and inclusive event. Extremely well executed!

The organizers definitely put their time and effort into this. The merch area was very well organized and easy to find the band you wanted to support. The sound quality was incredible; I had a moment of worry about how boomy it might be because of the building, but it was clear and amazing. Huge shout out to everyone involved in making memories between bands all over alberta and beyond.

5/5 will attend next time. And the next. And as many times after that I can.

absolutely incredible festival!!!

there was so much to do for everyone from kids to families to older folks!

all the games and all the art and card games and a super epic DJ to entertain the kids, DJ lion definitely killed it! sent some footage to my twins and they are dying to meet him one day!

the camping was spectacular and for a metal festival it stayed calm and enjoyable and very very family friendly and inclusive!!

all of the bands did absolutely amazing and would definitely see all of them again in a heartbeat!

and the drag queen mc and drag king performances were both incredible, funny, their jokes were kid friendly, and my friends daughter was absolutely starstruck meeting them!! 🥰🥰

I would absolutely absolutely attend this again next year, and definitely am bringing the kids next time!

I had an amazing time at Decimate! All the bands were awesome! The Lion's Memorial campground was beautiful. all the vendors were amazing! I highly reccomend attending the festival in the future.

I see a ton of people hating on this event because of the presence of a drag queen at the festival, and concerns of children being exposed to adult themes.

I was not there for the entire weekend, but for the time I was there, the drag queen in question (Birthday Girl yyc) was - in no way, shape, form, or fashion - performing any adult content. Everything I witnessed said or done by said drag queen was G rated and family friendly. They simply introduced bands and helped to create a fun, lighthearted and inclusive atmosphere for a metal festival (which can often be scary and intimidating for small children due to moshing, heavy music etc.)

Anybody condemning this event or it's organizers based on assumptions made by people who didn't attend, I urge you to speak to some people that DID attend to get the full story. The people who put this event on mean absolutely no harm, especially not to children. If you're condemning them simply because you dislike drag queens, or the queer community, then please take your hate elsewhere. We're not trying to turn your kids gay… we're trying to make sure if they ARE, they have somewhere to go where people will accept them, just in case their own home is not that place.

wow...I don't know where to start!!! decimate metalfest all ages was AMAZING! I brought my 21 month old son completely ready to have to leave right away if needed. He absolutely LOVED it!!! the atmosphere was nothing short of perfect. he made it through the ENTIRE day on Saturday. I don't even have all the right words to say how incredible everything was

Sloan... thank you and everyone there for making my sons experience the time of his life! seriously... the love there and respect for everyone was something I've never seen to this extent before... I seriously cannot find the words to thank everyone.....EVERYONE.... for this experience. I am forever grateful for all you wonderful human beings.

Decimate 2.5 was SOOO much fun. From the flames that went off during the chorus of the opening song eight through to the end this was amazing. I'm so happy events are happening that covid safe and friendly, hopefully paving the way for more events to come
